LockProof vs. Jobber for proof of service

Last updated: October 28, 2026

Jobber runs the job: scheduling, quoting, invoicing and a client hub. LockProof answers a narrower question after the fact. Can you show this visit happened as claimed, with a photo taken live through the camera (gallery blocked), a server-set time, the worker’s location when they share it, and a SHA-256 fingerprint that shows the record has not changed since? The two do different jobs, so a field-service operator can sensibly run both.

Are LockProof and Jobber the same kind of tool?

No. Jobber is field service management software: it is where a home-service business books the work, puts it on the calendar, sends the quote and the invoice, and keeps the client informed. LockProof is a proof-of-service layer: its records are built around one question, whether a given visit happened as claimed.

What does Jobber record when a visit is completed?

Going by Jobber's own help center and product pages, as of October 28, 2026: In the Jobber app a field worker opens the visit, can start a visit timer, adds notes and photos, and taps Complete Visit, after which the job can be closed and invoiced now, closed and invoiced later, or left open. Notes can be added to clients, requests, quotes, jobs, visits and invoices, with photos and files attached. Each note card shows the team member who wrote it and when, and an Edited label if it was changed later. A note or attachment added from the Jobber mobile app creates a GPS waypoint that shows where it was added, and a GPS Waypoints report lists those recorded actions with their time and location.

What does LockProof add when a customer says nobody came?

A record that starts on your side. For a job on your schedule, LockProof sends the worker a text, WhatsApp or email link at a randomized time or at a fixed time you set. The link opens the phone's camera with the photo gallery blocked, so the picture is taken live. The server sets the time when the photo arrives, the worker's location is recorded when they share it, and a SHA-256 fingerprint is stored with the record, so any later change to it is detectable. You can send a customer a proof link that opens in a browser with no account and expires after seven days, and dispute packets go out as an expiring, revocable share link, on Professional and up. The worker installs nothing and has no login to remember.

Can a Jobber shop use LockProof alongside Jobber?

Yes, in parallel. Jobber stays the place the job is booked, scheduled, completed and billed. LockProof keeps its own list of sites, workers and photo schedules, which you set up in LockProof, and it sends the photo prompt and holds the sealed record. The two run side by side, each set up on its own.

When is Jobber on its own the better buy?

When your need is scheduling, quoting and invoicing, your customers rarely question whether a visit took place, and a photo in the visit notes settles the occasional question. For a business in that position, a second tool adds cost without a payoff. LockProof is worth adding when the pain is disputes: customers who say the crew never came, chargebacks for service not rendered, or a client or regulator who expects a compliance record.

Best for

Jobber: best for running a field-service business end to end. Field service management software for home-service businesses: work requests, a drag-and-drop schedule, quotes, invoices and online payments, automated visit reminders, one-click on-my-way texts, and a client hub.

LockProof: best for proving a visit happened as claimed, in a form that holds up when the person paying disagrees. Pricing is $99 a month on Essentials, with Professional from $399 a month.

What Jobber’s own pages show

Jobber sends automated email or text reminders before a visit, and the crew can send a standard on-my-way text with one click in the Jobber app; the pricing page lists these automated client notifications on the Connect, Grow and Plus plans. Through client hub, a client can approve quotes, check appointment details and pay invoices; on plans with visit reminders, a client can follow a reminder to review the visit, see the assigned team members, and confirm it or ask for a change.

Checklists are customizable forms added to jobs and assessments, which the crew fills in at the visit. The pricing page lists them on the Connect, Grow and Plus plans. Location timers use geofencing to start and stop visit timers automatically, listed on the Grow and Plus plans. GPS tracking, listed on Connect, Grow and Plus, is described on the dispatch page as a way to track field-service vehicles from anywhere.

Jobber lists four plans, Core, Connect, Grow and Plus, priced by plan and team size. Core for one user is $49 a month with no commitment or $29 a month billed annually, and added users are $29 a month each, as of October 28, 2026.

Jobber facts on this page come from its pricing page, dispatch features page, and two help-center articles, on notes and attachments and on the field worker’s day in the app, all read as of October 28, 2026. Each Jobber statement here describes something Jobber publishes about itself.

Paid, and the work never came

On August 17, 2026, the owner of a Maries County, Missouri construction business pleaded guilty to deceptive business practices and stealing. According to the Missouri Attorney General, he took large upfront payments for home-construction work and then either did a little before abandoning the job or did none and delivered no materials. The court ordered $191,975 in restitution, with a prison sentence and five years of supervised probation.

Most service disputes are far smaller than a criminal case: a homeowner who says the lawn crew skipped a week, a property manager questioning a cleaning invoice. The question underneath is the same one, and an invoice is the paying side’s word against the billing side’s. A live photo from each visit, with a server-set time and a sealed fingerprint, gives the honest party a dated record to show the customer early, while the dispute is still a phone call. It does not grade the work; someone still looks at the picture. For how that record holds up later, read how to win a chargeback with photo proof.
