Best software to prove field work was done (2026)
Which tools prove field work was done, by the kind of proof they keep?
As of November 2026: eight tools answer this question, in four kinds. One is a proof-of-service layer, two are jobsite photo apps, two keep hours and clock-ins, and three run the whole job. Each rival below is described from its own homepage and pricing page, read as of November 3, 2026.
A proof-of-service layer, no app
1. LockProof: best for a visit record you can hand to a client
LockProof texts the worker a link when a check is due, at a time you set or on a random schedule picked inside the hours you set. The link opens the phone’s camera in the browser, with no app to install and no account to create, and the gallery is blocked. Each submission gets a server-set time, the location when the worker shares it, and a SHA-256 fingerprint, so a later change is detectable. A proof link opens the record for a client with no account and expires after 7 days. Pricing is $99 a month on Essentials, with Professional from $399 a month; dispute packets come with an expiring, revocable share link, on Professional and up.
Jobsite photo apps
2. CompanyCam: best for job photos organized by project
A jobsite photo app: timestamped photos and videos, an auto-organized project history, and job photos turned into reports. Its pricing page leads with “Document every job. Never lose proof of work.” Core is $63 a month billed annually or $79 month to month, with one user included and added users at $29 each billed annually; Crew is $119 and Scale is $249 a month billed annually, and Enterprise, for 50 or more users, is priced with sales, as of November 3, 2026. See CompanyCam’s own pricing page.
3. Timemark: best for photos stamped with time and GPS, shared in a team space
Timemark’s homepage says: “Take photos with a verified timestamp and GPS location. Collect, organize and manage it all in a team space.” It has a free plan, then Plus at $5 per user a month and Business at $7 per user a month, with Enterprise priced on contact, as of November 3, 2026. See Timemark’s own pricing page.
Time clocks and check-ins
4. Connecteam: best for a frontline team’s hours, schedules and chat
Connecteam calls itself “One simple app built for frontline teams to move beyond scattered tools.” Its homepage describes one-tap clock-ins, location verification and automatic clock-outs. Free for up to 10 users, then the Operations hub starts at $29 a month for the first 30 users billed yearly, or $35 a month billed monthly, as of November 3, 2026. See Connecteam’s own pricing page.
5. Hubstaff: best for hours with GPS job sites and productivity data
Hubstaff’s homepage: “Track employee time, monitor productivity, and turn approved hours into payments and insights.” Its pricing page describes GPS time tracking with job sites that clock teams in and out automatically. It prices per seat: Starter at $4.99, Grow at $7.50 and Team at $10 a seat a month billed annually, and Enterprise is priced with sales, as of November 3, 2026. See Hubstaff’s own pricing page.
Job management suites
6. Jobber: best for a service business that wants to quote, schedule, invoice and get paid
Jobber’s homepage sums it up as a place to quote, schedule, invoice, and get paid. Its pricing page lists job details updated from the field with notes, photos and attachments. Core for one user is $49 a month with no commitment, $39 a month on a one-year commitment, or $29 a month billed annually, and added users are $29 a month each, as of November 3, 2026. See Jobber’s own pricing page.
7. Housecall Pro: best for a home service business, from booking to payment
Business management software for home service companies: scheduling, quotes and proposals, invoices and payments, and employee GPS tracking that locates techs on a map from their phones. Its Essentials plan lists photo reports, where job photos are marked up with drawings and notes and built into a report. Basic is $59 a month billed annually or $79 monthly with one user; Essentials is $149 or $189 with five users; MAX is $299 or $329 with eight users, as of November 3, 2026. See Housecall Pro’s own pricing page.
8. ServiceTitan: best for home and commercial contractors running service visits and construction projects
Software for home and commercial contractors: dispatching, scheduling, call booking, invoicing, a pricebook, checklists that prompt techs through each stage of a job, and GPS tracking for technicians en route. Its homepage says it is built for home and commercial contractors to keep all their service visits and construction projects running smoothly. Its pricing page lists Starter, Essentials and The Works, each with a Request Pricing button, as of November 3, 2026. See ServiceTitan’s own pricing page.

Which one fits what you need to prove?
Start from the question someone will ask you later, then pick the tool that keeps that answer.
Photos of the finished work. CompanyCam or Timemark, both built around job photos. Pick LockProof when you want the photo to come back through a texted link, live camera only, with a time set by the server.
Who was where, and when. Connecteam or Hubstaff, which keep hours and clock-ins. LockProof records one point per check instead: the server-set time and, when the worker shares it, the location.
The whole job, from quote to invoice. Jobber, Housecall Pro or ServiceTitan. LockProof does not quote, schedule crews or invoice.
A record you can hand to a client, insurer or tenant who disputes it. LockProof. Send a proof link, which opens for 7 days, with the photo, its server-set time, the location when it was shared, and the fingerprint. A dispute packet goes out as an expiring, revocable share link, on Professional and up.
Does the worker need to install an app?
Not for LockProof: the worker taps a texted link and the phone’s camera opens in the browser, with no app and no account. Each of the other seven names a mobile app on its own pages. Connecteam also lists a shared kiosk device, and Hubstaff also lists desktop and browser trackers.
Can LockProof replace Jobber, Housecall Pro or ServiceTitan?
No. LockProof does not quote, schedule crews or invoice. It runs beside your job software as the record of each visit: the job stays in your suite, and the proof of the visit sits in LockProof.

What a missing record costs
On October 9, 2026, FOX 4 Dallas-Fort Worth reported that a North Texas contractor was sentenced to 30 years in prison after pleading guilty to taking more than $300,000 from customers. One customer paid $40,000 for a renovation that had barely begun, and kept being told the materials were coming. When the question is how far a job got, a record of each visit helps: a live photo with a server-set time, plus the location when the worker shares it, filed as the work goes.
